Ethnic art Project for Kids: How to make an Aztec Mask


Today we will learn how to make an Aztec Mask. Ancient Aztec, lived in Meso America, this is a region and cultural area in the Americas, extending approximately from central Mexico all the way to Costa Rica. Advanced pre-Columbian societies flourished here before the Spanish colonization of the Americas in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Have you heard of Aztec masks before?  We don’t know why they made this masks or how they used them, but some of them survived the conquest and are displayed in the museums around the world.  We know they made this terrifying masks using precious stones and a very elaborated technique. We will learn how to make our own Aztec Mask.
