Nature ice sculptures

Nature can create amazing ice sculptures. Winter is a great time to photograph because the landscape is changing all the time, the water, the ice and the snow build incredible forms.

Just a small drop of water can start a stalactite. The ice that cover rivers and lakes melts with the sun during the day and then at night freezes again, building layers. The ice brakes and freezes and during this process the ice “cries”. It produces a beautiful sound impossible to be described.

Air bubbles get trapped in the rapid flowing waters, and when temperatures fall quickly and the ice preserved them, creating transparencies and tri-dimensional shapes.

The sleet and the ice storms cover everything with a delicate layer of ice. Every little leaf, stick, brunch and even trees get transformed with the ice.
